A British mother has revealed how missing a body part helped her pay her mortgage, as she raises awareness of the issue.
In 2020, Holly Fleet, who goes by @stomababe online, was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis – a bowel disease that causes inflammation and ulcers in the digestive tract.
She was fitted with a colostomy bag and eventually had “Barbie Bum” surgery – a procedure in which the rectum and anus are removed and permanently sewn shut.
Since then, Holly has been vocal online about how her life has been, sharing everything from her experience running marathons, recovering from surgery, and her journey to starting a family.
And, the 30-year-old recently revealed in a TikTok video that her effort to raise awareness has helped her raise quite a bit of money through social media views and support.
“I saw this producer talking about how a video helped him pay off his mortgage this month,” he revealed.
“I just want to say that my lost butt hole is paying my mortgage – well, my share of the mortgage this month.
“I made a lot of money… thank you to everyone who watched me talk about my butt hole… keep watching and spreading awareness.”
Just a week before this, she had posted a picture of herself wearing a bikini, which shows that after the surgery she feels much less insecure about her body.
“I used to be extremely concerned about every aspect of my figure, but now that I know how much of my body is left, I have nothing but respect for it,” she said.
“This body has fought three open abdominal surgeries in two years and given birth to my daughter.
“It's not perfect, but it's mine.”
Holly went viral earlier this year after revealing her terrifying experience while attending Taylor Swift's UK concert.
She said that when she was trying to go to the bathroom, a mother pushed her and harassed her, and people were banging on the door of the disabled toilet.
“I had to go to the toilet again and again and whenever I went back to my place I was treated contemptuously. Despite explaining that I had a medical condition,” he wrote on X after attending the Wembley Stadium concert.
“I wore my sunflower string to let people know I had a hidden illness and had a supply of stoma supplies in my bag.
“One woman demanded I remove my backpack while I explained why I was wearing it.”
