An Australian influencer has reignited the age-old debate about wedding guest etiquette after attending a friend’s wedding in a completely transparent dress.
Jade Yarbrough chose a $1000 dress from Australian brand Carla Zampatti as she watched her friends Anthony Bell and Anika Martin tie the knot over the weekend.
Wearing white or anything that “distracts the bride” has long been frowned upon “Bad form” by etiquette experts. Because it is seen as a deliberate step taken to sabotage or ruin the marriage.
Because of this, Yarbrough’s light blue gown – which is sold in three pieces, a pair of $99 “full briefs”, a matching $399 “mesh bodysuit” and a $499 statement skirt – attracted criticism due to its revealing nature Is.
Photos from the star-studded wedding show the interior designer, who was filmed in a Noosa park with her ex Michael Clarke, put her lacy bra on full display in the gown.
Separate undies, an essential item in the 3-piece zampatti set, were also visible beneath the light blue net skirt.
Yarbrough, 33, completed her eye-catching wedding-guest outfit with pointed black heels and a mini clutch.
Fans were quick to applaud the influencer, whose older sister is married today’s show Host Karl Stefanovic labeled her outfit “insane”.
But others described the outfit as “horrible”, and claimed it was “inappropriate”.
“Not fair and just trying to get attention,” one wrote on Facebook.
“It’s sticky, useless,” said another indignantly.
And another described it as “rebellious for attention.”
However, on Instagram, comments on Yarbrough’s post were overwhelmingly complimentary, with many saying she looked “stunning”.
“Oh my god, that dress! Absolute perfection,” one shared.
“Girl this dress,” agreed another.
Yarbrough isn’t the first star to ruffle feathers by wearing a blue dress with an ex MAFS Contestant Jules Robinson Wearing this to the 2024 Marie Claire Woman of the Year Awards In Sydney on Wednesday.
Robinson felt “a million dollars” in the candid group as they celebrated “game-changing and pioneering women who are driving real change in Australia”.
The 41-year-old appeared to be wearing a nude bodysuit under the racy gown in an attempt to make it look less revealing.
However, like Yarbrough, it proved to be a divisive outing among Robinson’s fans, causing some to flood their comments section.
“Loved the color of your dress but didn’t like the sheer style of the dress,” one commented.
Another claimed: “Beautiful lady but the outfit is not up to your standards.”
As one said: “Jules you are so beautiful and I love that complexion of yours. But I can’t wait until showing underwear goes out of fashion!”
Many said they “liked” Robinson’s dress, while others came to her defense and wrote: “I find it so interesting that so many women felt they could give their opinion on your dress.”
