The GRAMMY winner will take to the stage in Australia for the first time on Wednesday night at Rod Laver Arena and fans can’t wait.
sunrise Reporter Andrew McCormack met some dedicated fans outside the venue and reported that about 200 fans were waiting for the show.
He said there were still 12 hours to go and some fans, both local and interstate, had been camping around the ground for days to get as close as possible.
The video shows tents set up in corridors in makeshift camps around the grounds.
“There’s someone in every single one of these aisles,” McCormack said.
When they asked a group of girls why they were so dedicated, one told Sunrise: “Olivia is one of my favorite artists, she’s so incredible.
“Especially their songs, hearing them live is an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“She performs very well, she’s a very good performer, the backup dancers are also very talented.”
The display of devotion from fans comes days after Rodrigo was spotted on the streets of Collingwood in Melbourne ahead of his concert.
“Oh, my God! Just make stuff every day, keep doing it until you have good quality,” the US star told Camiello.
The singer kept it casual with a New York Yankees baseball cap, gray coat, white sweater and black jeans with black Converse.
Fans praised the video a lot.
“The most genuine person I’ve ever known, so humble and down to earth,” one fan said.
Another wrote: “You are so lucky!”
“Oh my god, he’s out here somewhere,” another fan said.
Rodrigo will perform at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday, before taking the stage at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on 17, 18, 21 and 22 October.
The tour will be Rodrigo’s first show, with New Zealand singer Benny, best known for her hit Supalonely, set to join the star as the opening act in Australia.
Rodrigo first became known for starring in Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, but rose to fame in 2021 following the release of his debut single Driver’s License, which topped the US Billboard Hot 100.
They released their debut album, SOUR, at the end of the same year and was named Entertainer of the Year by Time Magazine. Their second album, GUTS, followed in 2023, which again topped charts in the US, Australia and around the world.
