Jenna Ortega’s new interview about Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Wednesday features Dachshund puppies.
Buzzfeed Celeb released the Jenna Ortega: The Puppy Interview video on Monday, where the actor was surrounded by four puppies for the duration of the 10-minute Q&A session, which can be seen in its entirety below.
Before Ortega launched into Q&A, she said, “I don’t have dogs but I do love them. I would love to have a dog but it’s kind of hard with working and stuff—but I’m a huge animal person so this will be good for me.”
Once four four-legged companions appeared on set, Ortega remarked, ‘Oh, no. Is that a Dachshund?”
Taken aback by the puppies’ playful presence, she added, “Sorry I’m not saying anything. I’m just stunned. My hair-makeup artist, Nirvana [Jalalvand], on Wednesday, we keep talking [about] getting matching Dachshunds. She said, ‘If you do that puppy interview and they’re Dachshunds, we’re going to have a problem.’”
Ortega Says She Was Offered ‘Beetlejuice 2’ After ‘Wednesday’ Premiered
Jenna Ortega said Beetlejuice Beetlejuice came her way just after the premiere of Wednesday when Tim Burton invited her to a meeting to talk about what he told her was Wednesday Season 2.
Little did the actor know, Burton had the script for the Beetlejuice sequel up his sleeve instead.
“So I went [to the meeting] with all these notes and all these ideas of where the show could go and he just popped the Beetlejuice script in front of me and I said, ‘Oh, OK, cool, that’s interesting. He was, ‘No pressure, no pressure,’” Ortega recalled.
“Then I got in my car and I drove five minutes down the road, parked on the side of the highway and sat on some rocks, and I read the entire script and said, ‘Yeah, I’m probably going to want to do this,’” she recalled.
Michael Keaton reprises his iconic 1988 role as the “Ghost with the Most” in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, while Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara also return as Lydia Deetz and Lydia’s stepmother Delia Deetz. Ortega stars as Lydia’s rebellious teen daughter, Astrid.
Written by Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar from a story by Gough, Millar and Seth Grahame-Smith, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice also stars Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe.
Rated PG-13, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opens in theaters nationwide on September 6.
