Jennifer Lopez and Matt Damon were photographed holding hands and having an intimate conversation at an after-party for their new film “Unstoppable” at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday.
The two spent time alone together during Lopez's divorce from Ben Affleck. Affleck has been best friends with Damon, 53, since childhood.
Lopez, 55, stars in “Unstoppable,” while Damon and Affleck, 52, produced the film through their production company, Artists Equity.
Affleck did not attend the premiere in Canada.
Sitting next to each other at the party, Lopez was all smiles as she held Damon's hand.
The “Dance Again” singer wore a silver disco ball dress, while Damon wore a gray suit and black button-up.
An eyewitness told People The stars chatted for over 20 minutes at the afterparty, held at the Ritz-Carlton's Epoch Bar & Kitchen Terrace.
The source added that they “started talking and had a long, deep conversation” that at one point had them holding each other's hands and laughing.
Lopez and Damon posed together on the red carpet for the “Unstoppable” premiere with their co-stars Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle and Jharrel Jerome.
Based on the autobiography of the same name, “Unstoppable” tells the story of Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and won college wrestling's national championship in 2011.
Lopez plays Robles' mother.
A source told daily Mail Lopez was “excited” to travel to Toronto for the premiere of “Unstoppable”.
“The film is getting a lot of attention and Jennifer wants it to do its best. She is very professional and always works hard to give her films the best chance,” the insider said.
Production on “Unstoppable” will wrap in January 2024 — three months before Lopez and Affleck officially split after two years of marriage.
On that April day — which is the separation date listed in Lopez’s Aug. 20 divorce filing — she was in New York shooting another movie she is co-producing with Affleck, “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
Affleck previously spoke about how much he loved working with Lopez on “Unstoppable.”
“What fun, what a joy it is to do something with her, to watch her be great, to go to work with your wife, to go to work with your best friend,” he said CBS Sunday Morning In March 2023.
Affleck added, “If you don't like the person that you're working with, and if you're having difficulty or trouble at work, I think that's one of those things that can really cause depression, anxiety and pain for people… It might not seem like she's doing all of this to do me a favor, but she really is.”
Since filing for divorce, Affleck has remained in Los Angeles, where he recently bought himself a $20.5 million home while the former couple's $68 million Beverly Hills mansion is up for sale.
The 'Argo' actor also enjoyed a date night with Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso at a Los Angeles restaurant on August 25. The couple's children were also there.
