It's the sweetest itch.
“Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” star Samantha “Sammi Sweetheart” Giancola wants a baby — and she opened up to The Post about her deeply personal IVF journey in an exclusive interview.
The 37-year-old got engaged in March and underwent in-vitro fertilisation treatment last year, which will be the main focus of her research. Part 2 of Season 7 The MTV series will premiere on September 19.
“I'm a really private person, so this is kind of new for me. I feel weird, maybe, showing this side of my life to the world. But it's true and this is what I'm going through,” she said.
The Hazlet, N.J. native said she didn't allow her doctor's appointment to be captured on camera, but viewers will see her giving herself hormone injections — and telling her co-stars she's trying to get pregnant.
She said, “I wanted to keep it a secret, because at first I thought, 'Listen, I don't know if the result will be what I want it to be … I'll be devastated if this doesn't work out.'”
“You'll see how everything plays out, but I really kept it private for a very long time.”
She added that her ex-boyfriend, co-star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro “wasn't around” while she was going through treatment.
“But it's not weird because he's a colleague and we're not related to each other. He's just someone I work with,” she said.
“That part of my life is completely over and gone for a very long time … and nothing that I do in my life has anything to do with it.”
Giancola had frozen her eggs at age 35 and had just begun dating her fiancé, Justin May, a bartender at the now-shuttered club, the artists’ former hangout. Club Karma in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
“I just thought, 'You know what? I'm getting older. I don't know what's going on in my life … I want to have kids one day,'” she recalled.
Before beginning their fertility journey, the couple, who live in Pine Beach, New Jersey, were trying to conceive naturally.
“I've been with my fiancé for three years, so it's been a long time,” he said.
She credits her groom-to-be for being her “backbone.”
“He's so positive and encouraging,” she said. “If I'm feeling down or going through a tough time, he's always there to pick me up and get me back to that good place where I'm focused and I'm like, 'OK, the end goal is positive. We'll just think positive.'”
The reality star hopes her televised journey can help others.
“Maybe someone can see me and understand, or maybe they've been through it too, or maybe they can relate to me in some way,” he said.
The brunette beauty, who was part of the original cast of “Jersey Shore,” did not return to the spinoff show, which debuted in 2018, until its sixth season, which airs in 2023.
This December, “Jersey Shore” will celebrate its 15th anniversary.
“I can't believe it's been 15 years. But what an amazing time I've had with these people in my life,” she said. “I love them so much.”
