MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough slammed Democrats for being “afraid” to offend “some small subgroup of their base” by speaking out about illegal immigration and transgender issues — two key concerns for voters who voted for Donald Trump. Helped to choose.
The former GOP congressman turned libertarian cable news anchor offered his scathing postmortem on Vice President Kamala Harris and why Democrats lost the White House as well as the Senate during Thursday’s show.
“They are afraid of offending. Always afraid of being humiliated,” Scarborough said. “Always afraid of hitting border security. They are always afraid of being humiliated on many other issues and they have lost working class America.
“The question is how long will it take for them to understand that this is not just about tax cuts, this is not just about economics, this is about cultural markers that mean so much in these people’s lives?”
He criticized Democrats for not emphasizing pro-Trump ads that said Harris would support taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries.
Other ads claimed Harris would allow biological males to compete in women’s sports.
“They didn’t respond to it because they were afraid to respond to it, because it might offend some small subset of their base,” Scarborough said.

One particularly effective TV ad aired in swing states said, “Kamala is for them. Trump is for you.”
“I mean, you don’t have to be a Republican, although I was a Republican – you don’t have to be a conservative, although I was a conservative, to understand that watching commercial after commercial at NFL football games, it’s like Saying taxpayers were going to finance transgender surgery for prisoners, that’s not something that’s going to go over well in Wisconsin, in Michigan, in Pennsylvania, among men,” Scarborough said.
Scarborough also criticized Democratic Party leaders for not pushing for a revised border security bill after the initial bill was rejected by the Republican-controlled Senate.
“There was some reluctance to go out there, to talk about things that were concerning to Americans, that really mattered this year. Illegal immigration, rampant border crossing,” Scarborough said.
“This was something that worried Hispanic voters. This is something that concerns black voters. “This is something that concerns all voters.”
