John Cena doesn’t like baring it all for the cameras.
The actor and professional wrestler, 47, explained why he’s not a fan of doing sex scenes in movies on Wednesday’s episode of the “Club Shay Shay” podcast.
“Oh my god, it’s the worst,” he said. “There are so many people you need to make a movie. There’s nothing intimate about it. Nothing. Like it’s really embarrassing.”
Cena specifically brought up his sex scene with Amy Schumer in the 2015 rom-com “Trainwreck” that he didn’t enjoy shooting.
“On top of that, to do a comedic sex scene, where you’re like, making fun of yourself? They literally [said] ‘Try to have the most awkward sex you possibly can,’ ” Cena recalled.
“I don’t want to say it sucks, but it’s different than you all think it was,” he added.
Despite disliking sex scenes, Cena said that they are nowhere near as bad as what he went through during his nude sketch at the Oscars in March.
“I got all the people behind the camera, but then I walk out in front of a room of my peers, many of which I’ve never met because I haven’t worked my way up to meet [them],” Cena explained.
“I have the most decorated performers, producers, directors in one room and I’m gonna go out there with my balls in the wind, with an index card covering my stuff like, ‘Hey guys, is this funny? Are we good?’ “
At the 96th Academy Awards, host Jimmy Kimmel was on stage and poked fun at the time a nude man ran across the stage in front of host David Niven at the 1974 Oscars.
“Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today? Wouldn’t that be crazy?” Kimmel, 56, said, as Cena came out on stage apparently nude but hiding his bottom half behind a large presenter’s envelope.
The “Peacemaker” star jokingly said he “changed my mind” about streaking in front of the crowd.
“The male body is not a joke!” he said on stage.
On “Club Shay Shay,” Cena explained that Kimmel convinced him to be apart of the skit.
“Jimmy Kimmel called me personally and was like, ‘I need you to come to the Oscars.’ And he’s like, ‘Just let me send you the bit.’ And he sent it on paper and I called him back, like, ‘When do you need me there?’ ” Cena recalled.
The “Fast X” star admitted that he thought he “would be more naked” at the award ceremony, adding, “I expected full d-ck and nuts, but it’s Disney, so you got to put tape on my butt crack. That was even more embarrassing. Going out there with a taped butthole, that’s tough.”
“But as soon as I read it, and I’m so fortunate that Jimmy Kimmel thought of me, and we went through it in rehearsal,” Cena added. “He was like, ‘Man, this is going to be a moment. This is going to be funny.’ “
Following the sketch, it was confirmed that Cena wasn’t actually naked on the stage in front of the star-studded crowd that included Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper and Mahershala Ali.
“We made sure that, for all intents and purposes, he looked like a Ken doll up front,” Walt Disney Television exec Rob Mills told Variety after the show.
“His crack was covered in the back and then the envelope was Velcro-ed on there so it wouldn’t fall. But beyond that, he was naked,” said Mills.
Backstage photos also revealed that Cena had a pouch covering his privates, both in the front and in the back, in case he dropped the strategically placed envelope.
