A Netflix star has tragically died after revealing he was battling a “serious illness”.
Jose de la Torre — best known for playing Ivan in the “Toy Boy” series on Netflix — died on Thursday, Dec. 5, just months after revealing his health struggles.
The Spanish star was only 37 years old.
Montilla Digital He was the first to report the news, revealing that the funeral took place on Friday, December 6, in his hometown of Montilla in the parish of San Francisco Solano in the province of Cordoba, Spain.
De la Torre’s cause of death has not yet been revealed; However, in June, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with a “serious illness”. That same month, he began receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness and stepped away from the public spotlight to focus on his health battle.
Following the news of de la Torre’s death, tributes poured in.
“I can’t believe you’re gone so soon. I am heartbroken by your departure. I’m sending kisses to all your family and friends,” Spanish singer Pablo Alborán wrote via Instagram.

Actress Luisa Martin said, “It breaks my heart to think that I will never hear your voice again, but I will keep talking to you. I love you so much, Jose.”

The star looked fit, healthy and happy in photos from his trip to the Canary Islands for a five-day festival called Desallia.
“The joy of arriving in the Canary Islands, seeing your friends, having a mojito and starting to sing until your voice breaks,” de la Torre captioned the series of party photos. “That has been Desalia 2024.”
He added, “And it’s thanks to the team behind @ronbarcelospain that goes above and beyond every year.”
De la Torre is survived by his parents, Antonio de la Torre Hidalgo and María José Delgado Espejo, and his sister Marina.
Model and actor best known for playing the role of Evan in Netflix’s “Toy Boy.” The Spanish thriller about a stripper desperate to prove her innocence for a crime she didn’t commit ran for two seasons from 2019 to 2021.
De la Torre had made her acting debut two years before taking on the role.
He made his debut as Goyo in the police drama “Serve and Protect”. De la Torre was also featured in “Vis a Vis: El Oasis” and “Amar es para siempre”, both released in 2020.
