Kajol almost starred in another cult Shah Rukh Khan movie; Dil Se.. However, the film’s shoot clashed with that of Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and eventually, the role of Meghna was portrayed by Manisha Koirala. On Koffee With Karan S8, Karan Johar recalled the time when Kajol received a call from Mani Ratnam for Dil Se.., but the actress mistook it for a prank call. “And at that point of time, I remember you got a call, in the midst of this (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s narration at Shah Rukh Khan’s home) from Mani Ratnam to whom you said, ‘Who?’ He said, ‘I am Mani Ratnam speaking,’ and you were like, ‘Yeah, and I am Tom Cruise!’ and put the phone down. Mani Ratnam had called her for Dil Se.. She didn’t believe it was Mani Ratnam and she thought someone was playing a prank,” said the director, as quoted by News18.

On Koffee With Karan S8, Kajol revealed that another blockbuster film that she had said no to besides Dil To Pagal Hai and 3 Idiots, was the Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty-starrer Mohra. The actress was offered the role of Mona, according to DNA India. However, she passed on the offer and eventually, Raveena Tandon essayed the character.
8. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha
Kajol almost starred opposite Sunny Deol in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, as she was among the several Bollywood leading ladies who were offered the role of Sakeena. However, Kajol said no to the movie and the role eventually fell into Ameesha Patel’s lap. During an appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, Kajol confessed that she said no to the cult film as she didn’t feel it was her kind of movie.
