Kamala Harris finally publishes policy website — and critics say it still lacks specifics

Vice President Kamala Harris finally launched her campaign website on Sunday after maintaining no official policy platform for more than a month — yet critics say the site still lacks specifics beyond a general vision and hopes.

The new website lists policies Harris has already announced — including $25,000 in bailouts for new homebuyers, increasing the tax deduction for new small businesses from $5,000 to $50,000, a ban on price gouging on groceries and a $6,000 child tax credit.

The website is being described as “a new way forward” – despite Harris having been vice president for more than three years and echoing some of President Biden's policies.

On the border crisis, the policy site made no points, except that Harris would fight for the Senate's related bill and that she would establish a “path to citizenship” for immigrants who enter the U.S. illegally.

Some voters expressed concern online about the lack of other concrete proposals, particularly on the border.

“These aren't policy positions… not even anything on border security. These are goals, goals that scream 'We're raising your taxes'!” said an ex The user wrote,

another person He added, “The 'border bill' is a political gimmick. Trump didn't need legislation to achieve a more secure border, and neither do Biden or Harris.”

“Kamala Harris posted a late-night, half-baked, wish list of policies on her website to fix the problems the last four years have created,” Trump campaign national press secretary Carolyn Levitt said in a statement.

“If Kamala really wanted to reduce costs and secure the border — why did she cast the tie-breaking vote to create inflation and support a war on our energy industry, and why is she allowing an invasion of illegal immigrants through our southern border?”

Other parts of Harris' policy agenda on the site outline her goals for a potential future administration but do not explain how she would get there, other than to say she would “fight” for them.

“She will fight to raise the minimum wage, eliminate below-minimum wages for tipped workers and people with disabilities, establish paid family and medical leave, and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” the website states.

It adds, “Vice President Harris will fight to ensure that parents can afford high-quality child care and preschool for their children.”

In another spot, the site states, “He and Governor Walz will always fight for the freedom to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and live free from the pollution that fuels the climate crisis.”

Regarding the U.S. Supreme Court, the site says Harris aligns with President Biden on instituting unprecedented reforms such as term limits and “requiring judges to follow ethics rules.”

“Vice President Harris believes that no one is above the law. She will fight to ensure that no former president goes to jail for crimes committed while in the White House,” the website reads.

It says, “She will also support commonsense reforms to the Supreme Court — such as requiring judges to follow the same ethical rules that other federal judges must follow, and imposing term limits — to address the crisis of confidence facing the Supreme Court.”

Harris did not offer any new vision for Israel on the occasion, but reiterated that she would “make sure” Israel has the right to defend itself and that she and Biden were working on a hostage agreement with Hamas to release Israelis and “end the suffering in Gaza.”

The Harris campaign did not respond to inquiries from The Post on Monday.
