Vice President Kamala Harris is being ridiculed for her latest word salad – with many suggesting she even made celebrity supporter Oprah Winfrey look confused and “lost.”
The Democratic presidential nominee repeatedly trash-talked Winfrey during her star-studded, two-hour virtual rally late Thursday night, with the TV host at times saying she provoke him to give a straight answer Answers to questions.
She then delivered a two-minute monologue that left many listening confused — including Winfrey, according to online commenters, who said the powerful media mogul looked “lost” and “unimpressed.”
“We love our country. I love my country. I know we all do, that's why everybody is here right now. We love our country. We – we're proud of the privilege of being Americans and this is a moment where (pause) we can come together as Americans and we should recognize that we have more in common than what separates us,” Harris said, pausing and smiling.
He said, “Let us unite with the character we are proud of.”
“We believe in what’s possible, we believe in what can be, and we believe in fighting for it,” he said, using his favorite, much-maligned “what might have been” phrase to emphasize the “freedom to simply be.”
“Hmmm,” Winfrey replied with a poker face.
Harris concluded, “And that's who we are; we believe in all of this, and so this is a moment where we know what we're fighting for. We're not fighting against anybody, but we're fighting for what we're fighting for.”
Missouri Senator Eric Schmidt shared a clip of the monologue, sarcastically comparing them to “Bill & Ted” and saying “Kamala's excellent adventure continues.”
“An epic word salad,” he wrote.
“The media should really be ashamed of themselves right now. She's running for president of the United States and all we get to hear about Oprah are scripted comments or baseless rumors.”
One of her followers wrote: “Oh my… this is even worse than I thought!”, while another said: “My IQ dropped 40 points after watching this.”
The two-hour “Unite for America” livestream event from Michigan was intended to highlight grassroots organizers supporting Harris and give voters an opportunity to ask about her platform — but the Democratic presidential nominee offered no new policy proposals.
When a viewer asked Harris what her plan was to “help lower the cost of living,” she responded: “Your story is one I hear as I travel around the country. Having the right to have aspirations, dreams and ambitions for your family and working hard and finding that the American dream, for this generation and so many more recently, is more elusive than it has ever been.”
“And we need to deal with it,” he said, offering the possibility of only “reducing the cost of everyday necessities, including groceries,” which have risen under President Biden during his administration.
