Middleton, 42, linked up with Lady Gabriella, 43, over the summer after news emerged that her husband, whom she married in 2019, died in Gloucestershire, England, in February. He was 45 years old.
Princess Catherine asked Lady Gabriella to help select this year’s musical performance “Together at Christmas” Grand EventHosted by the Princess on 6 December and will be broadcast on Christmas Eve.
It was reported that Lady Gabriella, who is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, was touched that the beloved royal had asked her to take part in the scheme.
In fact, given her previous experiences as a singer-songwriter, Gabriella was described as “a real member of the Carol Service team”.
A source told the Daily Mail, Lady Gabriella “enjoyed her role in the service and was excited to be a part of it,” while Middleton was “incredibly grateful for her contribution.”
“She was very impressed by the Princess and was grateful that she was asked to contribute to her special concert. “She felt honored,” the insider said.
Lady Gabriella eventually invited singer Gregory Porter and pianist Rosie Chan to perform at the celebratory concert. A poem was read by Tony winner Sophie Okonedo.
In addition to leading the artist selection process, Lady Gabriella also joined Restore the Music, a non-profit organization supporting music education for youth.
Jazz artists performed as guests were entering Westminster Abbey before the service.
Ahead of this year’s event, Princess Catherine – who revealed in September that she had completed chemotherapy and is now cancer-free – extended an invitation to people who have made a difference in their communities.
The palace previously said Middleton wanted to “celebrate the many people who have supported those in need – individuals who have inspired, advised, consoled and, above all, shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive.” “
This is the fourth time Princess Catherine’s annual Christmas Carol Service has been staged, which this year was attended by more than 1,600 invitees.
