Kate Winslet has to keep her retirement plans a secret, admitting they may be too “inappropriate” to share with the public.
During Wednesday's episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the actress revealed that she had been off work for an entire year after the Hollywood strike postponed the release of her upcoming film “Lee.”
The conversation revolved around Winslet's fantasy of retirement, but she could not muster the enthusiasm to reveal her secret.
“I said I'd go fishing,” Colbert admitted.
“I don't think I can say what I would do, because it's so unfair. “No, I can't,” Winslet argued when the talk show host tried to provoke her into an answer.
“No, I really can't… because it's rude and sexual, so I can't say it,” she said, much to the audience's excitement and Colbert's amusement.
“Listen, I'll never grow old! That's all I have to say right now. I'm never getting old. There will never be retirement for me.
Although Winslet wasn't ready to reveal her personal retirement secret, she recently shared behind-the-scenes details on the famous door scene from “Titanic,” which she shot opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in a tank.
“Well, that was quite a strange tank… because, to burst the bubble, it was waist height at the time,” Winslet said of the 1997 classic, according to People. “So, at first, I would routinely say, 'Can I go pee?' And then I get up, walk down the door, walk to the edge of the tank, about 20 feet away, and I literally have to jump up and down and back to the door again, it's horrible. '' she shared.
“Anyway, yes. So it was waist high. “Leo, I'm afraid to say it, she was on her knees,” he admitted. “I shouldn't have said that anyway. [The film’s director] universal key [James] Cameron is going to call me. In fact, the amazing thing about the sides of the tank was that it was an infinite tank. So there was water flowing continuously and you could hear the sound of water continuously.”
Months ago, Winslet burst more bubbles, telling Vanity Fair that kissing DiCaprio “wasn't what it should have been.”
“It was a nightmare, shooting it, because Leo couldn't stop laughing, and we had to re-shoot it about four times,” because of the lighting, she revealed of the entire sequence. “He's quite a romantic, isn't he? It's no wonder every young girl wanted to be kissed by Leonardo DiCaprio. It's not all it should be. So we kept having this kiss, and I had very light makeup on. And I have to check both of our makeup in between takes. And I would end up looking as if I was sucking a caramel chocolate bar after each take because her makeup got on me.'
Winslet said that her makeup also transferred onto DiCaprio's face.
Despite the relentless shooting, the actress admitted that she felt “very proud” of the film.
