Suri Cruise is embarking on her next chapter.
Over the weekend, Katie Holmes and her daughter touched down in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to move the 18-year-old into Carnegie Mellon University.
The “Dawson’s Creek” alum was photographed helping Suri carry boxes into the college freshman’s dorm room.
The mother-daughter duo kept it casual, with Katie wearing a pale yellow button-down with light stripes, a blue shirt tied around her waist and jeans. The 45-year-old star accessorized with dark sunglasses and multiple necklaces.
Suri donned a white, long-sleeved shirt, baggy blue Bermuda shorts and a flower pendant necklace. Both ladies sported their brown hair tied back.
At one point, Katie carried a massive, over-the-shoulder bag while Suri rolled a suitcase across the campus.
Suri’s dad, Tom Cruise, was out of the country for the college move-in day.
The “Mission Impossible” actor is currently vacationing around the Mediterranean after pulling off a major stunt to close out the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On Monday, the 62-year-old was photographed landing a helicopter at London Battersea Heliport and wore a white golf shirt, black jeans, and white sneakers for his solo flight.
He completed his look with a black baseball cap and hung matching sunglasses from his collar.
Tom — who has been estranged from Suri for nearly her entire life — was smiling as he directed the helicopter through the air.
Although the “Top Gun” star has kept mum on his daughter’s college plans, Katie, who welcomed Suri in 2006 before divorcing Tom in 2012, has been vocal about her only child flying the nest.
“I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy,” the “First Daughter” star told Town & Country in an interview published Aug. 13. “I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”
Poking fun at her coping mechanisms, Katie added, “The members of my book club are going to get annoyed hearing from me. I’ll be like, ‘Let’s meet once a week.’”
In May, Suri, who graduated from the famed LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts and Performing Arts, revealed which college she would be attending.
She appeared in a friend’s TikTok, which was later made private, wearing a red Carnegie Mellon sweatshirt before dancing on camera.
It’s safe to say that Suri is following in her mother’s creative footsteps.
The New York City native’s vocals have been featured in two of Katie’s projects: the 2022 film “Alone Together” and 2023’s “Rare Objects.”
In 2023, the “All We Had” actress reflected on working alongside her mini-me.
“I hope she always does something on my films,” Katie told Glamour. “I always ask her. But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space.”
She continued: “So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly. That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart.”
