Katie Holmes breaks her silence on the death of her former “Dawson's Creek” co-star Obi Ndefo.
The 45-year-old actress said, Instagram Story The memorial will be held on Sunday to pay tribute to Ndefo who died recently at the age of 51. The cause of his death is yet to be known.
Holmes posted a screenshot An Instagram reel The video was shared by his former series co-star Mary-Margaret Humes, along with a message dedicated to the late actor.
“He was a wonderful experience working with and a very kind person,” Holmes wrote.
“I send my prayers and blessings to his family. Rest in peace,” she added, adding a heart emoji.
Holmes played Joey Potter in this hit teen drama, which aired on The WB from 1998 to 2003.
Ndefo played Bodie Wells, the boyfriend of Joey's sister, Bessie Potter (Nina Repeta).
Humes, 70, played Gail Leery, the mother of Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek).
The tribute to Ndefo included behind-the-scenes footage of Ndefo on the set of the show, including a video of him hugging Van Der Beek, 47.
“These words do not come easily,” Humes wrote in the caption of his post. “It's hard for me to imagine that you have left us, my dear friend. You have always been a shining light and always will be. What an example of pure, unconditional love and perseverance you have set in the face of life's challenges recently.”
“I will treasure all the messages of love and support we have given each other over the past few years,” the actress added. “Rest in peace sweet warrior.”
Ndefo's sister Nkem announced his death in 2014. a facebook post On Saturday.
“Heartbroken to lose my little brother and know he is now at peace,” Nkem wrote alongside a selfie of the smiling siblings.
Aside from “Dawson’s Creek”, Ndefo has also appeared in other shows such as “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”, “The Jamie Foxx Show”, “NYPD Blue”, “The West Wing”, “Stargate SG-1”.
In 2019, Ndefo lost both his legs after he was hit by a car while leaving a supermarket in Los Angeles.
He was loading luggage into his car when an SUV hit him and severed his right leg. His left leg had to be amputated when he was taken to the hospital, it is reported. Los Angeles Times,
His surgeon, Dr. Milton Little, called his survival “a miracle.”
“I almost died and it’s a miracle I’m still alive,” Ndefo said of the accident. “Meet the Business with David Zimmerman” Last year.

After the accident, Ndefo focused on his writing work in Hollywood. He also taught yoga to children.
