Travel blogger reveals when she was married to comedian who passed away At the age of 65 in 2022She taught him that communication is important.
“Being very open about communicating,” Rizzo told The Post exclusively. Scleroderma Research Foundation “Cool Comedy • Hot Dishes” program on Tuesdays, “If there’s something you’re going through just share it, talk about it and be honest and open about it because keeping things inside and letting things fester is the worst thing you can do. “
And he took this advice to heart Relationship with Breckin Meyer50, whom she began dating in February, two years after Saget’s death.
Why does Rizzo want the “Full House” alum’s legacy to be known?
“I want him to be remembered as an incredible, selfless friend, father, husband, and someone who just wanted to make people laugh and make people happy,” the podcaster shared.
“Especially the last few years of his life,” Rizzo confessed. “Especially during the pandemic, all he wanted to do was say, ‘The world is hurting and I just want to make people laugh.’ And not only was this the greatest desire of his soul, but he also loved his family and his friends deeply and fearlessly and would do anything for them.”
He added, “He had the biggest heart.”
But despite wanting to make the world laugh, Rizzo revealed that fans might be surprised to learn that Saget also had his down moments.
“A lot of people think that comedians are always laughing,” he explained, “and they’re always happy and they’re telling jokes all the time and that’s not the case. Bob had to deal with a lot of loss in his life. A lot. Pain, a lot of pain. A lot of comedians turn to comedy because they’ve had some very bad times in their lives.”
One of the casualties was Saget’s sister Gay. He died in 1994 at the age of 47 from scleroderma, an autoimmune disease in which excess collagen causes tissues to lose their elasticity.
“So, even though he was a happy, energetic and fun-loving person, he was feeling a lot of the weight of the world and the pain of the world when we were home,” Rizzo said. “People who are married to comedians know that they don’t laugh all the time.”
Rizzo and Saget met through mutual friends in 2015 and announced their engagement in 2017. They got married the following year. And her wedding day is a moment the Comfort Club founder holds close to her heart.
“Our wedding was very special,” Rizzo recalled. “It was great because she never thought she would find love again and we had such a beautiful marriage. It was very intimate with so many wonderful, close friends and it was so amazing to see him so happy and really feel like, wow, even at 60 he was able to find love again.
She said, “So I was happy that when I did that I was able to make him happy.”
As the third anniversary of Saget’s death approaches, Rizzo notes that her feelings “are different every year.”
“The first year was incredibly difficult. Last year was a little easier but it’s always hard because then I take myself back to that actual day and it’s so horrible,” she told The Post. “But last year was easy and I’m assuming this year will be a little easier. But I spend as much time as I can with his daughters and talk about them and we share about them all the time.

“I don’t talk to him every day,” she said. “But I just know that they are always there for me and I love them. I know I always have their support and it means so much that they are always just a phone call away whenever I need them.”
