One Facebook group isn't getting any appreciation from Lady Gaga.
The Grammy Award-winning singer hit back at her former NYU classmates who cruelly started a closed Facebook group titled, “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous.”
“Some of the people I went to college with have acted like that,” Gaga said. “That's why when people doubt you or put you down, you can't give up — you have to keep moving forward.”
Gaga's response came after a TikTok page went viral on Tuesday, in which the infamous page insulted the singer.
The album's cover photo features an old photograph of Gaga (born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), showing her as a young, brunette woman with a black X drawn across her face.
The next slide of the TikTok post showed a photo of the “Shallow” singer holding an Oscar alongside a list of all of her awards which includes 13 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and 18 MTV Video Music Awards, among many other accomplishments.
Fans took to the comments section of the TikTok video to praise the singer's response and her success.
“Success is the best revenge,” one person wrote.
Another user said, “She's not just famous, she is the fame.”
The now-deleted Facebook group, created by her classmates at New York University’s Tisch School of Art, had 12 members at the time of the screenshot.
Gaga began singing and playing piano at an early age and claimed to have been bullied as a teenager. She gained early admission to NYU after performing at open mic nights at clubs during high school.
Gaga has been open about her experiences with harassment during high school and college.
“It stays with you for the rest of your life. I remember things that bullies would say in front of other people and nobody would say anything,” Gaga said on the Australian television series. The Sunday Project in 2020. “Nobody asked, ‘Are you OK? Are you OK?’ In fact, if I spoke up about a bully treating me badly, it would make it worse for me at school.”
“Being bullied has taught me the importance of kindness, because it is something that can be fixed.”
The singer broke into the mainstream in 2009 when her hit track “Just Dance” was released along with a series of popular songs such as “Paparazzi” and “Poker Face” from her “The Fame” album.
New music is expected to be released next month.
In a post on her ex’s account on September 3, the singer said Shared a picture showing his travel itinerary for the Venice Film Festival that included a welcome dinner, the world premiere of “Joker: Folie e Do” and then some press events. The next section featured the film starring Joaquin Phoenix, which will be released in theaters in October, with another line that read “XX October: LG7’s first single.”
Fans believe she plans to release the first track from her highly-anticipated seventh studio album sometime in October.
