Right-wing provocateur Laura Loomer has threatened to sue comedian Bill Maher after he joked that she and Donald Trump may have had a sexual relationship.
Maher took aim at Loomer during an appearance on the HBO show “Real Time” on Friday for her claim that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey are faking their romance to influence 2024 voters.
“I think maybe Laura Loomer is in a relationship to influence the election because she's so close to Trump,” Maher said.
“She's 31, seems like his type… who's Trump?” the comedian quipped.
“Because I said, it's nobody. He's been a dog for a very long time. And it's not Melania. I think we might get an answer to that this week.”
Loomer immediately hit back at Maher on social media.
He added, “I should sue Bill Maher @billmaher for defamation.” written on x,
The conspiracy theorist added, “This is unacceptable and a total lie.”
Loomer accused Maher of contributing to a “coordinated attack” by “the mainstream media, the White House and left-wing celebrities” over her ties to the Trump campaign.
Loomer made headlines when she traveled to Philadelphia with Trump for Tuesday's debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.
The following morning, he was seen with Trump and his fellow Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as they visited a New York City firehouse to commemorate the 9/11 attacks.
He suggested online that the terror attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people, were an “insider plot.”

“I don't control Laura,” the 45th president said. “I can't tell Laura what to do.”
Trump said on Truth Social that Loomer has no formal role in the campaign, and is a “private citizen”.
