They love Lucy.
Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s children appeared in a rare photo together via Instagram over the weekend.
On Saturday, Lucie Arnaz, 73, posted a photo with her brother Desi Jr, 71, while the two siblings were eating dinner in Las Vegas.
“I Love Lucy” stars Ball and Arnaz, who were married from 1940-1960, starred on the hit show together from 1951-57.
Arnaz died at age 69 in 1986 and Ball died at age 77 in 1989.
Despite their divorce, Lucie told People in 2022 about her parents, “They loved each other until the end.”
In the caption, Lucie wrote, “Thank you, Nick Luckinbill, (mega producer for EDC) for treating your family to a grand meal at Wally’s in Las Vegas, with our special guest, my recalcitrant brother, Desi Arnaz, Jr.!!! Desi is alive and well, my friends- just likes to stay a bit ‘undercover.’”
Lucie is an actress married to playwright Laurence Luckinbill.
She continued, “We are here for the weekend as Larry is being tributed during the 35th Anniversary of Star Trek V celebration at The Treksperts Convention here. He played Spock’s brother, Sybok in that film- and with his autobiography just released, is a very special guest here. He’ll be taking photos, selling and signing books and speaking on two panels.”
She described her time in Las Vegas, “Then I snuck away to Caesar’s and Joe’s Seafood to join the indomitable Sunny Sessa, her dear Max and our pals, Clint and Kelly Holmes for more stimulating conversation and just a few naughty sweets!! What smart, interesting, funny, involved and talented and lovable friends and family have I.”
Desi Jr., meanwhile, is a retired actor and musician who has two daughters: Julia (from a relationship with model Susan Callahan-Howe) and Haley (from his second wife Amy Laura Bargiel). He previously dated Patty Duke and Liza Minelli, and he was married to “Happy Days” actress Linda Purl (from 1979-1980). He was also married to Amy Laura Bargiel (from 1987 until her death from cancer in 2015).
Following his wife’s death in 2015, Desi Jr. has kept a low profile.
Ball reportedly disapproved of his relationship with Duke. Desi was just 17 and Duke was 23 when the two stars dated.
Duke’s son, “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Goonies” star Sean Astin, reportedly grew up believing that Desi Jr. was his father, until he later learned that it was Michael Tell.
“If you want to know who I am, John Astin is my father, Michael Tell is my biological father,” the “Stranger Things” alum told People in 2001.
Sean still spoke warmly of Desi Jr.
“I don’t fault anybody,” he told People, about the confusion regarding his biological father.
“I don’t fault myself or with Desi, who is like my godfather, I have such a powerful love bond with this man, he’s a gorgeous human being.”
