Country singer Luke Bryan took a slight swing Beyoncé’s way after the Houston star received zero CMA Awards nominations for her Cowboy Carter album, even though it is the best-selling country album of the year.
Fans have accused the CMAs of racism but Bryan had a different opinion.
“It’s a tricky question because, obviously, Beyoncé made a country album and Beyoncé has a lot of fans who support her. And if they don’t get what they want, man, they come to you, as fans should do,” Bryan said on Andy Cohen Live.
Brian says that making a country album does not guarantee a nomination or award.
“Everyone loved that Beyoncé made a country album. Nobody’s mad about it,’ Brian continued. “But where things get a little tricky – if you’re going to make a country album, come into our world and be a little country with us. Like Beyonce can do whatever she wants. She is probably the biggest star in music. But come to an awards show and high-five us and have fun and connect with the family too. And I’m not saying he didn’t do it… but country music is about family.”
Is he right?
