Mark Hamill is mourning the death of James Earl Jones.
The actor, perhaps best known for playing Luke Skywalker, mourned Jones in a post on X shortly after news of his death at the age of 93 broke.
Jones lent his voice to Hamill's father, Darth Vader, in the “Star Wars” films.
“#RIP Papa,” He has written reposting a Variety article announcing Jones' death, with a broken heart emoji.
A representative for the late actor said Jones died at his home in New York on Monday, September 9. Diversity,
Hamill paid tribute to Jones on Jan. 18, what would have been his 93rd birthday.
“To the one and only James Earl Jones: 🎂 A legend on both stage and screen! Wishing you all the best on your special day,” Hamill captioned two photos of Jones. Posted on InstagramHe added, “Proud to call you #DadVader.”

In 2017, Hamill was present at that year's Tony Awards ceremony to celebrate Jones winning a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Jones first voiced the role of Darth Vader in “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” in 1977. He remained the voice of Vader for the next 50 years.

In addition to voicing Darth Vader, Jones has lent his prolific voice to characters other than Vader. He voiced Mufasa in the 1994 Disney-animated hit “The Lion King,” the voice box in the hardware store in 2005's “Robots” and the Giant in the 2009 movie version of the “Jack and the Beanstalk” fairy tale.
He also appeared in films such as “The Sandlot”, “Field of Dreams”, “Warning Shot” and “Coming to America”.
Jones even earned the coveted EGOT, helped by her Lifetime Achievement Tony and a 2011 honorary Oscar.
