Read on to find out all the details about the launch and the features of the Maruti Suzuki eVX!

Maruti Suzuki’s First EV: eVX To Debut By 2024 End

The car will be launched by the end of 2024, as confirmed by Toshihiro Suzuki, President, Suzuki Motor Corp, Japan, at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, “The first battery electric vehicle from Suzuki Global will be rolled out from Suzuki Motor Gujarat by the end of this year. We plan to sell this model not only in India, but export to Japan and European countries.”

As per reports, the model will be built in India and then exported to international markets along with a locally sourced powertrain and battery pack. The car will have competitive prices as the main components of the car will be made in India.

The eVX is similar to the Grand Vitara when it comes to size and will be pitted against the MG ZS EV and upcoming Tata Curvv EV.

The car that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 boasted a dual-motor all-wheel drive and a 60kWh battery pack along with a range of 550 km.

Specifications And Features

Some sources have stated that the car will be priced under Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom) while some sources state that the car will be priced above Rs. 10 lakh. However, this suggests that the car might not be as affordable as Tata’s EV products.

The car will be manufactured along with its Toyota counterpart at Suzuki Motor’s Gujarat’s (SMG) Hansalpur facility, just 90 km away from Ahmedabad. This plant boasts an operational capacity of 75000 units a year and has already produced cars like the Baleno, Swift, DZire, and Fronx since 2017.

As per the ACI report, the Maruti Suzuki eVX and its Toyota counterpart will be developed using Toyota’s 27PL skateboard platform. The SUV is projected to measure 4.3 meters in length, offering a spacious cabin due to its electric vehicle-centric design, as highlighted in the ACI report. The testing of the eVX on Indian roads is already underway, as mentioned in the report.
