A protester dressed in Hezbollah attire was charged with hatefully harassing a Jewish straphanger who allegedly read a poem aloud before he was sentenced for an anti-Semitic hate crime.
The bizarre poetry recital by Christopher Huseri, 37, unfolded in a California court in October as he faced the music for stealing and burning a woman’s Israeli flag during a protest — and moments before he was arrested in New York City. Was arrested on a warrant outside, Mercury News informed,

Savit told The Post exclusively on Thursday that he was pleasantly surprised to learn of Haseri’s arrest and possible indictment on hate crime and harassment charges in a Manhattan court this week.
He said, “No matter how much you disagree with people, treat them decently.”
“It’s really not that hard to convince people. This is not at all.”
Savit met Huseri after attending an event Downtown Manhattan Exhibition October 7, 2023, Nova Music Festival in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack.
He told The Post that a crowd of anti-Israel protesters gathered outside the exhibit chanting “Long live the Intifada” and, later, filled a subway train taken by Savit to Fulton Street.
A masked protestor wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the flag of the Hezbollah terrorist group noticed Savitt wearing a kippah, or religious head covering, and pushed him aside, the lawyer said.
“Yo, we got a Zionist here,” the protester said, Savitt reported.
When Savitt took the photos, the protester became angry and taunted, “Brother, if you knew who I am.”

Huseri claimed that Savit was the aggressor because he had taken the photographs.
He said, “I do not threaten Jews.”
But Hussairi has faced allegations of threatening Jews other than Savit.
In January, he A woman was attacked, her Israeli flag was snatched and set on fire during a protest in El Cerrito, California, according to reports and a criminal complaint.
On October 9, almost a year after the Nova Music Festival massacre perpetrated by Hamas, he faced robbery and theft charges as well as a no-contest plea to a hate crime enhancement.
A week later, after Hussairi held his personal poetry slam, he received a 364-day sentence and was arrested by members of a fugitive task force. The Mercury News report did not elaborate on which poem Huseri read, or whether he wrote it himself.
Court records show the rioter was being held without bail as he was extradited to New York to face a hate crime charge in the subway run-in with Savitt.
Hussairi was scheduled to be arraigned in a Manhattan court on Thursday, but the proceedings were delayed over paperwork issues.
