The richest woman in the world is Francoise Bettencourt Meyers. According to Forbes, Meyers and her family have a total net worth of $88.2 billion (approximately Rs 7,38,464 crore). Granddaughter of Eugène Schueller, a French chemist-entrepreneur who founded L’Oréal, Meyers was declared the first woman to ever amass a fortune of $100 billion in December 2023, Cosmopolitan reports.

Francoise Bettencourt Meyers has been a member of the L’Oréal board since 1997. She inherited the company after her mother, Liliane Bettencourt—the former richest woman in the world—passed away at the age of 94 in September 2017. Apart from her role in the French multinational personal care company, Meyers also serves as the president of her family’s philanthropic foundation and Téthys Invest, a holding company that they own. According to multiple reports, Meyers and her family donated around $226 million (Rs 1,891 crore) to repair the Notre Dame Cathedral after the tragic fire in 2019.

Meyers and her family own 35 per cent stake in L’Oréal, a multinational company valued at $268 billion (approximately Rs 22,43,717 crore), reports Firstpost and DNA. The French company also owns several luxury brands such as Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Lancome, Maybelline, and Diesel. The reports also suggest that Yves Saint Laurent, Lancome, and Prada generated approximately $42 billion (around Rs 3,51,593 crore) in revenue in 2022.

Meyers is married to Jean-Pierre Meyers. The couple have two sons, Jean-Victor and Nicolas Meyers, who are filmmakers by profession. She has also authored two books: The Greek Gods, a genealogy, and a five-volume Bible study.
