A Tamil Nadu cricketer named Sarvesh Shashi left his cricket career to pursue his passion for yoga. He started his own wellness company called Sarva, initially named Zorba, in 2013. The company started with three studios in Chennai and has now expanded to over 90 studios across 32 cities. According to DNA, Sarvesh’s yoga-based wellness company has raised over $10 million from Indian and global investors.
Sarvesh Shashi, who started practicing yoga at the age of 6, launched the wellness firm that uses yoga to tackle issues arising from modern lifestyle, in collaboration with his father Shashi Kumar, a Chennai-based businessman. The firm has its own application offering virtual lessons, and according to Tracxn, it was valued at $14.1 million (approximately over Rs 100 crore) in 2021.
According to DNA, before becoming an entrepreneur, Sarvesh played cricket for Tamil Nadu and was about to play in the Indian Premier League when he decided to take the entrepreneurship route and launch his yoga-based wellness company. Over the years, he has emerged as a top name in the fitness circuit in the country. He trains many popular actors including Janhvi Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Shriya Saran, and Jacqueline Fernandez.
