Azim Premji’s sons Rishad Premji and Tariq Premji are continuing their father’s famed legacy by playing pivotal roles in Wipro, the Bangalore-headquartered global information technology, consulting and business process services company. Rishad Premji took over from his father as Executive Chairman of Wipro while Azim Premji remains on the company board as the Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director. Rishad started his career at Wipro as Business Manager to Chief Strategy Officer, before taking over the reins of the family business as Chairman. Wipro’s revenue, according to Forbes, stands at an impressive $11.3 billion (approximately Rs 94,353 crore).
Tariq Premji currently serves as Non-Executive Director at Wipro Enterprises and Vice President at Azim Premji Endowment Fund, an entity set up by his father to fund his philanthropic initiatives. Wipro Enterprises, Wipro’s non-IT business, has Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting (WCCLG), an FMCG company, and Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN), a hydraulic cylinder manufacturer, under its umbrella. Earlier, Tariq was a part of the founding team at PremjiInvest, the family investment office. He’s currently serving on the Investment Committee that oversees the management of $5 billion (approximately Rs 41,749 crore) in assets.
