He received a paycheque of Rs 1.25 crore for starring in Aapadbandhavudu (1992), thereby becoming the highest-paid actor in the industry at the time. The actor’s hike in fees is majorly credited to the massive success of Gharana Mogudu, which was the first Telugu movie to earn Rs 10 crore at the box office. Several national magazines deemed Chiranjeevi as “Bigger than Bachchan,” because Amitabh Bachchan charged under Rs 90 lakh per film during this period.
Chiranjeevi will next be seen in Mallidi Vassishta’s fantasy film Vishwambhara, which also stars Trisha Krishnan, Meenakshi Chaudhary and Ashika Ranganath. Vishwambhara is slated to release on January 10, 2025. Notably, Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan is also a prominent name in Telugu cinema.
