‘Suits’ star Patrick J. Adams is shedding some light on his relationship with former co-star Meghan Markle after she left the show in 2018.
The 43-year-old actor said he and the Duchess of Sussex “aren’t really in touch” when a fan asked him “Is it weird that your costar is royalty now?” Are you still in touch?” on a Reddit thread on October 6.
Adams added, “For obvious and important reasons she lives a very different life now.”
Markle left the legal drama “Suits” after Season 7. Her departure was announced in November 2017, and she married Prince Harry in May 2018. Adams and his wife, actress Troian Bellisario, were invited to the Windsor Castle wedding ceremony along with the rest of the crowd. Of artists.
In 2020, the couple stepped down as working senior royals and currently live in Montecito, California with son Archie, 5, and daughter Lilibet, 3.
After launching a podcast for “Suits” with co-star Sarah Rafferty, 51, who plays Donna Roberta Paulsen on the USA Network show, Adams said Markle, 43, approached her.
“After hearing about the podcast, I got a lovely message saying how excited she was for us and asking how she could help in any way,” the actor wrote in the thread.
he adds: “[It was] It’s lovely to have that kind of support and friendship even after so many years.”
On the second episode of the Rewatch podcast, the “Plan B” actor talked about the royal auditions and playing Rachel Zane.
Adams and Markle played love interests on the show, which ran from 2011 to 2019, and they even got married onscreen.
Before “Suits”, the pair filmed a “terrible, terrible pilot” together.
“There was a romantic relationship being established in that particular pilot’s pilot as well,” Adams recalled. “And then we never saw each other again. The pilot failed. It was horrible and gone. And so we never saw each other and never spoke to each other.
Adams, who had booked the role of Mike Ross, was surprised to see Markle during one of his chemistry readings.
“She was right there and she said, ‘Hi.’ And I said, ‘Oh my God!’ so good to see you!'”
Adams says pilot is being filmed Reading Chemistry helped the pair connect and helped Markle land the role.
“And so I think just getting to know each other and being calm and not having that nervousness of getting to know each other really helped with the chemistry,” he explained. “And when we walked into that room it was clear we had an innate thing.”
During the podcast episode, the “NCIS” star praised Markle’s acting skills, saying she’s “absolutely ahead of the competition.”
,[I]It was very clear, if I remember correctly, that from the moment we read chemistry, he was going to get that role,” he recalled. “It was much easier than any of the others.”
Rafferty recently told Entertainment Weekly that the Duchess of Sussex is among several people who have been invited as guests on the podcast.
“Everyone has been invited, and everyone has been very cooperative,” Rafferty told EW on October 6“It’s amazing. I’m messaging one of our directors, Mike Smith, right now. Rachel Harris made some comments on our Instagram Live this morning, can’t wait to introduce Sheila Saiz to the show. I Can’t wait to talk to Max Beesley and all the British actors with us.
Adams and Rafferty will watch and recap the drama series episode-by-episode, share their experiences from filming, and interview former cast and crew members.
