Megyn Kelly mocks Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris as she drags her running mate Tim Walz into the fray In his first interview with the media — referring to the governor of Minnesota as his “big white blanket.”
“You can’t do this with your big white blanket next to you for every interview,” the former Fox and NBC anchor said Wednesday on her SiriusXM podcast, “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
Harris ultimately agreed to a taped meeting, which will air on CNN on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, five weeks after she was chosen as the successor of aging President Joe Biden following his decision not to run for re-election.
“Here we are, watching the ‘emotional support governor’ sit down for her first interview in five weeks with our potential next commander-in-chief, as there’s a huge shift in the Democratic race, and in relation to the White House, who’s ruling the country, how she became a candidate, and what exactly she has in store for us,” Kelly said.
“She used to have a big white blanket that I used to carry with me everywhere,” Kelly recalled.
“He's white. That's his big white blanket that he needs to talk to the press.”
Kelly also wondered whether Walz would step in to protect her during an interview with CNN's Dana Bash.
“If I were running for president and I had a vice president sitting next to me … a man or a woman, and I was asked a tough question and my vice president jumped in to defend me, I would say, 'Excuse me, that question was for me,' and I would continue with my answer,” Kelly said.
He wondered if Walz would have the courage to actually intervene “because he knows it would undermine his reputation, and yet that's the purpose of him being there.”
“And also, even though she doesn't use the big white blanket like that, it's half the questions. She's sitting with Dana Bash, but she only has to do half of the allotted time, because she'll get the rest of the time,” according to Kelly.
Kelly predicted that the Harris-Walz interview There won’t be “a moment of great letdown” Because Bash is “definitely more sympathetic to the Democrats.”
Bash “doesn't want to ruin her career over this meeting.”
A CNN spokesperson issued a statement to the Post defending Bash.
“Dana Bash is a respected veteran journalist who has covered politics and politicians in Washington for more than three decades,” a CNN rep told the Post.
“He has extensive experience interviewing major political figures and is highly qualified to interview both Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz,” the spokesperson said, adding, “We look forward to their conversation.”
The Post has sought comment from the Harris-Walz campaign.
Kelly said Harris’s refusal to agree to an interview so far “does not instill confidence in me as a woman.”
“Everybody should be celebrating the fact that she could be our first woman president, and she can't even sit down and give an interview,” he said.
“I have news for you, Madam Harris, this is not the way the presidency is supposed to work.”
