An active search is underway for a 66-year-old Michigan woman who disappeared from a popular tourist destination during a trip to the Grand Canyon more than a week ago, authorities said.
Martha Overholser was last seen at Mather Point on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona on December 10, when she failed to return on a commercial bus tour. According to the National Park Service.
Authorities believe she walked west from Mather Point, a popular spot, toward Bright Angel Lodge or Hermit’s Rest, the westernmost point of the Grand Canyon’s south rim.
The search is going on for 11 days.
Sault Ste. Marie resident is described as a 5’2″ white female who weighs 110 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes, the park service said.
She was last seen wearing a long, off-white coat and a gray hooded sweatshirt and carrying a navy blue backpack.
Officials encouraged anyone who sees Overholser to contact the NPS ISB tip line at (888) 653-0009.
