A 33-year-old immigrant from Mexico has been arrested for attacking two NYPD cops who tried to arrest him following a street fight in Queens, law enforcement sources said.
Mauricio David Sosa had punched another 33-year-old man in the face during a confrontation on Glynn Street near Baxter Avenue in Elmhurst around midnight Tuesday when officers arrived at the scene, authorities and sources said.
When police tried to arrest Sosa, he attacked them — slapping one in the face and kicking another in the lower abdomen, police said.
Sosa was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault — for punching the officers — as well as misdemeanor assault and resisting arrest for the initial assault, police said.
Both officers refused to seek medical attention for their injuries.
Sources told The Post that Sosa had repeatedly tried to cross into the US at the southern border, but this was the fourth time he did so.
Sources said he was stopped during his first three attempts – and each time he opted for voluntary removal from the country, though the timeline was unclear.
Police said Sosa, who currently lives in Jersey City, has no previous arrests in the Big Apple.
