Two immigrant teenagers were arrested late Wednesday night on charges of embezzling thousands of dollars in designer goods from a downtown Brooklyn Macy’s, law enforcement sources said.
Police said 18-year-old Allen Bello and a 17-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, collected a pile of name-brand clothing during the robbery of a Fulton Street department store just after 9 p.m.
They tried to leave with the stolen items — valued at about $2,421 — before an employee stopped them, police and sources said.
Police responded and arrested both teens at the scene and charged them with grand theft, police said.
They are believed to be migrants, though their country of origin was not immediately known, sources said.
It was also unclear whether the pair had been arrested in the Big Apple before.
In a similar case last spring, Venezuelan migrant Brian Castillos, 22, was caught for attempting to steal $299 worth of merchandise from the same Macy’s, according to that criminal complaint.
He’s also been busted this year for using stolen credit cards at a Manhattan NBA store and snatching a woman’s necklace in a Hell’s Kitchen sidewalk robbery, according to those complaints.
