The family of missing aerial photographer Hannah Kobayashi says two suspicious Venmo payments made to a man and woman at the time of her disappearance are being investigated by police.
Kobayashi, 30, paid on Nov. 9 — a day after she missed a connecting flight to New York and was left stranded in Los Angeles, said her aunt, Larry Pidgeon. told the US Sun.
A message sent at 6:25 p.m. was sent to a woman named Veronica Almendarez and described a bow and arrow emoji.
Sources told the outlet that the second payment was made less than an hour later — at 7:19 p.m. — to a man named Jonathan Taylor with the subject line “Reading,” which appears to be for a tarot card reading. .
“We have been made aware and so has the LAPD. It’s in their hands,” Pidgeon told The Sun.
“We’re still focused on Downtown LA. Even though it’s been 15 (days), we still have hope,” he said.
The distraught aunt also said the family is “asking people across the country to keep an eye on him to see if he has been taken out of California.”
“We are considering all possibilities – hotel, metro, bus, train station,” he said.
It was not immediately clear how much money Kobayashi sent to any recipient.
