The California motorsports park where a 9-year-old girl died in a “freak accident” earlier this year has been permanently closed as a legal investigation into her death gets underway.
Pint-sized star Brooke Carlton sustained fatal injuries A child riding another bike collided with them while riding at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in Lake Elsinore in June.
The park was sued after the tragedy and was ultimately closed when the property owners, who were caught up in the litigation, forced them off the land, the park said on social media.
“The property owner has terminated our agreement because they are also being brought (in the lawsuit),” the park said in a Facebook post.
“Closing the track would be in their best interests. I can’t say anything because I hold him guilty.”
Park owners said both the landlord and the city government are “dealing well” with the incident that killed young Brooke.
Police said the girl fell from her bike after it collided with another child rider and fell on the ground unconscious.
The good guys gave him CPR until paramedics took him to the hospital, where he died.
The other rider survived with minor injuries.
“We are really saddened by the situation. As the parents said, it was a freak accident,” Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park said in an Instagram post following Carlton’s death.
“This is not a time to bash the track, but a time to remember this little girl and support her family. We are a community and we will also play our part in supporting the family.
Brooke was an ambassador for motorsports apparel brand Go Fast Girls and she loved “competing with other girls on the track and going fast”. Its profile on its website,
“For those who really knew Brooke, she was a completely unhinged person who knew what she wanted and avoided it,” family friend Ellie Giles wrote in the description of a GoFundMe fundraiser supporting her family. There was no way.”
