The Ambanis are currently gearing up for Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s big, fat Indian wedding. Ahead of the wedding festivities in Mumbai, Nita Ambani visited Varanasi to present the wedding card at a temple. She also made a pit stop at a popular chaat shop and enjoyed the local delicacies.
“Mukesh would have loved it,” Nita Ambani shared while eating aloo chat, noting her husband’s love for street food. If you’ve been keeping up with the Ambanis, this revelation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The Ambani family, particularly the Reliance Chairman, are loyal customers of the famous chaat joint Swati Snacks.
Swati Snacks is a popular eatery that Mukesh Ambani — India’s richest man with a staggering net worth of 9.6 lakh crore, according to Forbes — loves to order from. Their menu features classic chaat delicacies like sev puri, pani puri and dahi batata puri. They currently have two outlets in Mumbai and two in Ahmedabad alongside a cloud kitchen. One of Swati Snacks’ popular dishes is also Mukesh Ambani’s personal favourite…
What is Mukesh Ambani’s favourite food?
Mukesh Ambani’s favourite food is panki. The popular Gujarati dish is a hot seller at Swati Snacks and only costs Rs 230 per plate. Panki is made from rice flour and steamed in a plantain leaf. Swati Snacks owner Asha Jhaveri explained the process of making panki: “The rice and turmeric batter for the delicacy is directly poured on leaves greased with oil and then cooked in a steamer. The pancake has to be carefully disengaged from the leaf to be eaten,” according to South China Morning Post.
Asha Jhaveri, in her autobiography eponymously titled Swati Snacks, recalled how Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani frequently visited her food joint, even standing in the queue to get in. Now, though, the Ambani couple mostly order takeaways, and their staff comes to pick up the food.
In the same autobiography, Mukesh Ambani shared his love for his favourite food joint in a book cover quote: “We are three generations of the Ambani family who cannot live without ordering from Swati Snacks every week.”
