Netflix sets Argentine science-fiction series 'The Eternaut' for 2025

During its annual Geeked Week event, Netflix released new assets for its brand new Spanish-language sci-fi series called The Eternaut (also known as El Eternauta) which comes from Argentina. The new series is coming to Netflix in 2025 and here's everything we know so far.

Netflix's The Eternaut Directed by Argentine director Bruno Stagnaro and written by Stagnaro Ariel Staltari.netflix first The title will be unveiled in May 2023The film was being produced by K&S Films when its production had just begun.

“For me, El Eternauta represents my father bringing me comics every week,” the series' director said in mid-2023, adding, “I believe it was one of the first things in my life that I read in full, at the age of 10, and it profoundly influenced the way I perceived the fiction made in my country.”

The series, which will consist of six episodes, stars Ricardo Darín, Carla Peterson, César Troncoso, Andrea Pietra, Ariel Staltari, Marcelo Subiotto, Claudio Martínez Bell, Oriana Cárdenas and Mora Fiz.

What is The Eternaut About this?

The Eternaut Héctor is an adaptation of Germán Oesterheld's iconic Argentinian graphic novel, illustrated by Francisco Solano López. Here's the official logline for the film, provided by Netflix:

“After a deadly snowstorm that kills millions, Juan Salvo fights alongside a group of survivors against an alien threat controlled by an invisible force.”

A slightly more detailed account of the actual novel follows:

“In The Eternaut 1969, the great world powers have abandoned South America to foreign invaders, and POV character Juan Salvo, along with his friends Professor Favalli, metallurgist Franco, and neighbor Susana, join the resistance in Buenos Aires with the knowledge that the outside world will not come to their aid. Through the lens of these timeless characters, the politically visionary creator asks readers to consider the implications of global domination by the “great powers” before it is too late.”
