Former New York Gov. David Paterson was attacked by three young suspects while walking on the Upper East Side on Friday night, law enforcement sources said.
Patterson, 70, was with a 20-year-old man when they encountered a group of three young men, possibly teenagers, on Second Avenue near East 96th Street shortly before 9 p.m., sources said.
Some type of confrontation occurred and Peterson and the 20-year-old man were attacked by the group.
The former governor and the young man suffered facial injuries.
Sources said he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
No arrests were made till late Friday night.
