Police announced Friday that they have arrested an illegal alien they believe may be responsible for the murder of a family of four in New York last month.
Irondequoit police shared information about the arrest of Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano, 34, originally from the Dominican Republic, in a post through X.
Pimentel-Soriano is wanted in his country for another murder in 2019.
On Aug. 31, 30-year-old Fraime Ubaldo, 26-year-old Marangeli Moreno-Santiago, 4-year-old Evangeline Ubaldo-Moreno, and 2-year-old Sebastian Ubaldo-Moreno were murdered in their Irondequoit home.
“It was a horrible scene,” Irondequoit said. police chief “I've never seen anything like this in almost 32 years of doing this job,” Scott Peters said at a press conference.
Following an extensive investigation, police arrested Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano on September 7.
“It appears that Mr. Soriano illegally entered the island of Puerto Rico and obtained a fraudulent New York identification card,” the Irondequoit Police Department’s post read. “With that identification card, he was free to travel from Puerto Rico to the United States mainland.”
“Our condolences are with the family, their friends and neighbors,” Irondequoit Town Supervisor Andre Evans told Spectrum News. “I'm very sorry that this has happened, but I want to let you know that the Town Board and I will authorize anything necessary to support our police department and use any and all resources to bring these individuals to justice.”
The family's bodies were found in the basement that morning as firefighters battled a fire in the house.
After further investigation, police were able to determine that the family's cause of death was not fire-related.
A makeshift prayer vigil was held on the front porch of the Moreno family's home on Knapp Avenue in Irondequoit over the past two weeks, featuring soft toys and photos of the victims.
Although police said only limited information would be released at this time, efforts to bring justice to the Moreno family continue as part of an active investigation by the Irondequoit Police Department.
The Irondequoit Police Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
