An infant was found dead behind a Bronx building in broad daylight Wednesday, police said.
The baby — whose umbilical cord was still attached — was found about 11:15 a.m. on the ground behind an apartment building on St. Lawrence Avenue near Gleason Avenue in Soundview, authorities and sources said.
The infant, whose gender was not immediately known, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Police said the circumstances of the infant’s death were not immediately known and that the city medical examiner’s office would make an official determination.
Police said no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
