Media Take Out has confirmed that Nick Cannon, 44, has been diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder.
“I still don’t understand it completely, but I’ve always wanted to check it out. “I did a lot of testing,” Canon said in an interview while serving food at a Los Angeles Mission Thanksgiving celebration.
“I have been diagnosed with ADHD. Even as a kid I had this dyslexia, but knowing that I’m just a neurodivergent person, I always knew that,” he adds.
Nick says he’s accepting his recent diagnosis and using it as a tool to better himself.
“I feel like there’s a lot of labels out there, but this is like, I can accept it and say, ‘Look, I’m in recovery. I need help. Show me.’ I embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way,” he says.
“To be able to say I’m an example for others, but also during self-process tasks, can be healing.”
Cannon first revealed his diagnosis on the November 8 episode of his Council Culture podcast.
After confirming with Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, a doctor of psychology, that he has been “medically diagnosed” with narcissistic personality disorder, Cannon revealed that he identifies with almost all of the “markers” of the disorder.
“I’ve taken all the power away from the word narcissism because I’ve researched it and I understand it,” Cannon said on the episode. “Call me whatever you want… now if I don’t know what it was, I’m okay with it.”
