Nikki Garcia has filed for divorce from Artem Chigvintsev following his recent arrest on domestic violence charges.
Nikki reportedly filed the paperwork this Wednesday in Napa Valley, California, more than two years after tying the knot with her former Dancing With the Stars partner.
“Nikki Garcia has filed for divorce. She is asking for privacy for herself and her family at this time,” a rep for the wrestler and reality star tells PEOPLE.
Chigvintsev was arrested on charges of domestic violence just days before his second anniversary with the WWE star.
On August 29, she was charged with causing physical injury to the husband and was granted a bail of $25,000. In her filing, Nikki has mentioned the same date as the date of their separation.
It soon became apparent that it was Artem who called 911 first.
“Initially he came for a medical check-up but now he is saying he had a fight with his wife and that his wife threw shoes at her husband. [reporting party]”the dispatcher said on the call,” adding that “there is also a child on scene.”
Officers arrived at the scene where they found one person suffering from injuries, but they did not confirm if it was Nikki or Artem.
