No Doubt has been relatively inactive as a band for quite some time now. After lead singer Gwen Stefani went solo, the group seemed to take a back seat. Aside from a handful of performances here and there, not much has been heard from the pop-rockers, but that doesn’t mean the public has forgotten about the hits that made them superstars in the first place.
The California-based band returns to a Billboard chart this week. They don’t have new music out, though. Instead, one of their most recognizable smashes has become popular once again in one very specific fashion.
“Just A Girl” reappears on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 this frame. The single lands at No. 37 on the list of the most popular and most-used tracks on TikTok.
No Doubt’s feminist-leaning anthem is not new to the TikTok chart in America. The song has now spent five weeks somewhere on the roster. It’s previously climbed to a peak of No. 28.
“Just A Girl” remains No Doubt’s only placement on the TikTok Billboard Top 50. While they were once one of the biggest rock acts in the country–if not the world–the band’s heyday ended long before TikTok became a powerful force in the music industry. The tally has only been around for about a year, so it’s not strange that they haven’t earned more wins.
No Doubt released “Just A Girl” in 1995 as the lead single from their album Tragic Kingdom. The tune became the band’s first charting hit on the Hot 100, where it eventually climbed to No. 23. It also set the stage for its follow-up “Don’t Speak,” which would go on to become the group’s signature smash.
“Just A Girl” is one of four comebacks on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 this week. No Doubt comes in behind only NLE Choppa (“Slut Me Out 2,” No. 25) and Armando Trovajoli (the slowed down, remastered version of “L’amore Dice Ciao,” No. 33). Adrianne Lenker’s “Anything” is the only returning win that ranks lower, as that tune settles at No. 45 after once peaking inside the top 10.
