A little heavy on the holiday cheer?
According to the NYPD, three off-duty cops have already been arrested this month for allegedly driving under the influence.
The bust comes just before the holidays, a time when NYPD bureau, campus and fraternal organization Christmas parties are in full swing — and so is the alcohol.
“It’s the holiday season,” a police source said.
However it is not clear where any of the officers were coming from.
Jose DeJesus Jr., 27, was arrested on Staten Island about 7 a.m. Saturday after a single-vehicle crash at 24 Roosevelt St. in Emerson Hill, police sources said.
DeJesus has been charged with driving under the influence, driving while impaired and refusing to submit to a field sobriety test, police said.
A day earlier, 28-year-old Sheikh Aktaruzzaman was picked up on the same charges after he was caught sleeping in his vehicle around 8:30 a.m. within the 43rd Precinct, which covers the southeast section of The Bronx .
Police sources said Aktaruzzaman’s car was found in the middle of the road at White Plains Road and Wood Avenue in Parkchester.
and Donald Johnson, 32, were arrested around 7 a.m. on Dec. 6 in the 108th Precinct of Queens, which includes Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside.
Sources said Johnson was fired after someone reported him.
NYPD officers are also working excessive amounts of overtime as the force is reduced In recent years.
