A 10-year-old girl in the Bronx died after falling from a window of a building while she was home alone, according to reports.
Around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, police responded to 2157 Southern Boulevard in East Tremont for a report that a girl had fallen from a window of the building.
Police said the girl was alone at home when she fell and there were injuries on her body, which indicated that she had fallen from a great height.
He was taken by private vehicle to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Sources say told CBS News That day, there was an argument between the girl and her mother over the use of the iPad.
Mother left to go to the doctor at around 4:30.
When she returned home, she found the girl lying in the courtyard outside their building, sources said.
Police are reviewing surveillance video to try to determine if the girl was supervised and whether she fell from a window or the roof.
The girl's death has shocked her neighbors, with one of them telling CBS that she was always friendly and kind to those around her.
“Just a sweet girl. Always saying 'good morning.' Sweet,” neighbor Antoinette Talamon told the outlet.
“It's so sad. Somebody lost their child, cousin, little kid, maybe their friends at school. No, it's crazy,” Bronx resident Madeleine Martinez told CBS.
The city medical examiner will determine the child's cause of death, police said.
No charges have been filed in this case, and no arrests have been made.
