A 9-year-old girl escaped a masked kidnapper while walking to school in Queens — then ran to her mother who works as a school crossing guard, police and sources said.
The girl was walking on the southwest corner of 34th Avenue and 93rd Street in North Corona about 7:40 a.m. when a brown-haired man wearing a black mask approached her in his black sedan, authorities said.
“Get inside the car,” the man called to Young, according to police.
When the girl refused, he allegedly got out of his car and tried to catch her, but she ran away to her mother, who worked in a nearby school, police sources said.
Police said the would-be kidnapper drove north on 93rd Street.
The girl’s mother called police, but the suspect was still at large as of Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
He is described as being approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall.
