A maniac killed a man and a woman in separate attacks at the Grand Central-42nd Street station on Christmas Eve, according to police and law enforcement sources.
The attacker first stabbed a 42-year-old man in the left wrist after an argument broke out on the stairs at the southbound entrance of Midtown Station around 10:15 p.m., police and sources said.
According to sources, the suspect then ran up some stairs and began arguing with the 26-year-old woman before striking her in the neck near the turnstile.
Both victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Sources said that after the second attack, the suspect fled up an escalator, but was spotted by witnesses and police, who arrested him and recovered a knife.
The NYPD said the department has a person of interest in custody.
No charges have been filed yet.
According to sources, the suspect has been arrested thrice earlier on charges of criminal mischief, assault on rent and assault on a police officer.
