At Collina Strada New York Fashion Week At Friday’s show, organizers took the collection’s title, “Touch Grass,” literally.
The extravagant event took place at the East Village's Green Space, where a grassy knoll was transformed into an unconventional catwalk on which models pushed lawnmowers and wallowed in mud.
“We're still trying to create a fun, goofy Collina, but in a mature way,” creative director Hilary Taymor explained. Prevalence Of the show.
The first dress — a plunging green dress with a patterned bodice and chartreuse chiffon skirt — was presented to the audience on a model, who threw a handful of sod at Paramore rocker Hayley Williams, who was sitting in the front row.

The new collection – and the show itself – was designed to offer some lightness amid turbulent times, with Strada turning to nature for inspiration.
“I think everyone is a little overwhelmed this season,” the designer told Vogue about “Touch Grass.”
“There's a lot of chaotic energy with everything that's going on on the planet and with the election, and so I'm just trying to be grateful that I have a small, healthy business; trying to find inner peace, trying to keep a smile on my face and not get overwhelmed.”
