Huang Ping, the now-former consul general in New York, was seen by The Post fleeing the consulate on Wednesday morning — just hours before Hochul told reporters that a request from an unnamed “high-ranking” State Department official for her removal had apparently been granted.
“I also urged the Department of State to take appropriate action in response to the dangerous and outrageous actions taken by the People's Republic of China,” he said.
Huang's dramatic departure came just a day after federal prosecutors unsealed a stunning 64-page indictment against Sun, 41, and her husband, Christopher Hu, 40, accusing them of working as a foreign agent for China.
Prosecutors said Sun took millions in bribes from the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Communist Party for his work to turn the New York governor’s office, under Hochul and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, into effectively a mouthpiece for China, particularly when it comes to Taiwan.
