A man was found dead in Oakland on Christmas morning the house caught fireOfficials said.
Firefighters responded to a residential fire in the area around 6:15 a.m.
A 37-year-old man reported the fire to his family and rescued his father and aunt, as well as his brother, according to Oakland Fire Department spokesman Michael Hunt.
The person either stayed inside or returned to collect their belongings, but may have become disoriented or affected by the smoke, Hunt said.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in 30 minutes and found a man inside, who appeared to have died of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but appears to be accidental, Hunt said.
